Master of Education in Education Technology & Instructional Design
Western Governors University

Program Details

Learning design expertise is in high demand by employers across all sectors, including K–12 education, corporate training, healthcare, IT, business, government, and military. WGU’s new Master of Education in Education Technology and Instructional Design program addresses shortages in this rapidly expanding field. Educators and trainers will gain updated skills that capitalize on existing expertise. They will learn to create immersive and engaging educational experiences both inside and outside of the traditional classroom. The MEd in Education Technology and Instructional Design degree combines design thinking, gaming design, cognitive psychology, experiential learning, user experience (UX), graphic design, and instructional design for a holistic learning experience. Students may choose from two pathways, or complete both if desired: Adult Learning Designer, which focuses on creating successful learning experiences for adults in the workplace, or K–12 Learning Designer, which teaches ways of enhancing student classroom performance. A teaching license is not required to enroll in this program.

WGU’s School of Education programs are highly respected by school districts and businesses across the nation. Flat-rate tuition, a competency-based education model, and unparalleled flexibility allow students to complete online coursework at their own pace. Dedicated faculty mentors work one-on-one with WGU students to provide coaching, guidance, and support from enrollment through graduation.
