Government-mandated licensing is rarely required for marketing or communication careers. For example, you won’t need a state license to work as a marketing manager.

However, certification can improve your career regardless of your specific job. Public relations managers can become certified by the Public Relations Society of America, which offers a variety of potential certificates that focus on detailed aspects of PR.
