A grant is a form of financial aid that does not have to be repaid. It is considered to be a gift of free money that is awarded based on a student’s financial need, such as low income. Grants can come from the government, states, schools or an organization. Awarding aid to anyone who qualifies, the federal government is the largest provider of grant programs. There are four federal grants designed to support students attending four year universities, community colleges and career schools. See the complete article on financial aid and grants.
