The State Uiversity of New York will offer an Electrical Engineering Bachelors degree online beginning Fall, 2006. This online undergraduate program, one of the first of its kind in the nation, will provide all courses, materials, tests, labs, discussions, advising and contact with faculty completely over the Internet. SUNY expects to have approval from the NY State Education Department to offer the complete degree program by elearning in Fall 2007.

The SUNY Electrical Engineering Online program is the result of collaboration among three prominent universities of the State University of New York -- Binghamton, Buffalo, and Stony Brook - supported by a grant by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Faculty teaching these courses are the same professors who teach in the campus EE program. SUNY is the largest public comprehensive university in the United States with 414,000 students on 64 campuses.

Courses will be offered at the SUNY tuition rates per credit. Several SUNY graduate programs appear on GetEducated.com's Best Buy in Online Degree Ranking lists for 2006. At present, a search engine search on "engineering degrees online" results mainly in offerings from diploma mills. The SUNY option will be a quality addition to the online learning roster.

Steve Rawlinson, a software and web developer from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, has launched a new website that aims to help students searching for online degree programs.

Remington College - Online Instructors: The colleges seeks an instructor to teach two sections of an online Environmental Science course for Fall Quarter (October 23, 2006 - January 18, 2007). Blackboard is the platform for the course. A master's degree with a minimum of 18 semester credits, or 27 quarter credits, in courses relating to the assigned course and work experience in a field that relates to the assigned course are required. A recent survey of distance learning students in Indiana University's top-ranked AACSB-accredited Kelley School of Business gave the university high marks for its distance degree program. 94.6% of graduates indicated they would enroll in Kelley Direct again. 91% indicated the educational experience met or exceeded their expectations. 83.9% indicated they expect Kelley Direct to provide them with more interesting job opportunities. 96.4% would recommend Kelley Direct to a friend.
